Senate to confirm additional three ministers
In accordance with the contents of an official statement, the three individuals put forth for ministerial roles before the Senate are Dr. Jamila Bio, Balarebe Abbas, and Olawale Olawande.
The statement highlights that, in light of these new appointments, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is urging the Senate to confirm this fresh list.
The formal request from President Tinubu was dispatched on Tuesday, conveyed through a written communication addressed to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Within this correspondence, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of a swift approval and confirmation process for these nominees. This appeal was conveyed during a plenary session of the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly by Senator Akpabio.
It's worth noting that President Tinubu had previously formed his cabinet on August 21, 2023, administering the oath of office to 45 Ministers at the State House in Abuja.
Throughout the screening procedure conducted by the Senate, a total of 48 nominees were thoroughly reviewed. Ultimately, the Senate's vote of confirmation encompassed 45 of these individuals, with three nominees left pending.
The trio of nominees who did not secure immediate confirmation included the former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, Stella Okotete (Delta), a Director at Nigeria Export-Import (NEXIM) Bank, and Abubakar Sani Danladi (Taraba).
